Interoperability
Key words and phrases: interoperability, system-of-systems, interoperability assurance, iSMART process
“The ability of systems, units or forces to provide services (information) to and accept services from other systems, units or forces and to use the services so exchanged to enable them to operate effectively together.”
Few organisations, whether they are in the public or commercial sectors, have produced a perfectly interoperable information system “first time” and as information exchange systems become more complex and costly, we can no longer afford to settle for second best. We want the future now.
Lockheed Martin UK - Integrated Systems & Solutions has many years of experience providing consultancy support to ensure the achievement and subsequent maintenance of interoperability within a System-of-Systems (Interoperability Assurance).
While 100% interoperability is unlikely ever to be achievable because of financial and technical constraints, Lockheed Martin UK - Integrated Systems & Solutions can help Customers to:
- understand their interoperability requirements;
- analyse their current level of interoperability;
- identify interoperability issues; and then
- significantly raise the level of interoperability by application of the interoperable Systems Management and Requirements Transformation (iSMART) Process.
