Risk Reduction
Lockheed Martin UK - Integrated Systems & Solutions follows a planned approach to testing which leads to the successful development of new products, tools and systems.
ITS’ aim is to reduce the risk to the customer and encourage better understanding of the process and technology’s strengths, weaknesses, costs and implications. Lockheed Martin UK - Integrated Systems & Solutions believes the key to achieving overall success at the least possible cost is to agree aligned objectives and to build long term relationships with customers, based upon trust, openness and commitment.
Testing can be carried out either within the dedicated Lockheed Martin UK - Integrated Systems & Solutions test environment or at the client’s premises, or a mixture of the two. ITS has permanent access to, and control of, the Lockheed Martin UK - Integrated Systems & Solutions Test Environment which is configuration controlled and adaptable to use whatever operating systems, software and browsers are required.
Comprehensive Service
The ITS can perform the full spectrum of testing stages namely: Functional Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, Validation Testing, Performance Testing, User Testing, Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing.
A simple, effective approach is defined for each testing stage and includes:
- Planning, outlining, designing, reviewing and producing tests that expeditiously exercise the system’s capabilities.
- Logging faults.
- Monitoring the process of fault corrections.
- Conducting tests.
- Witnessing tests.
- Test reporting and cross-referencing between tests and requirements.
After the initial test phase has been completed, a regression test suite is identified for subsequent builds.
When and where appropriate, the ITS applies various test automation and test scripting techniques, including XML, to maximise efficiency – especially for regression test suites.
The ITS also organises ‘free testing’ of the entire system where the tool is exercised by an end user whilst ITS staff observe and monitor results.

The ITS can work alongside the client to advise on all aspects of accepting a new IT system from definition to acceptance and into service. Having highly experienced test engineers who are also experienced project managers, we are able to provide impartial advice, an independent view of the testing process and an independent interpretation of all test results. We can also assist with Test Process improvement or introduction and with Fault Tracking Processes – including definition of appropriate fault categories. As far as the supplier is concerned, we form an integral part of the client team. We reduce risk and improve quality.

- Development of test strategies and documentation (test templates to define a consistent approach with nothing missed out, test plans to define the strategy, test outlines to define the aims and sequencing of each test, test specifications to define the detailed actions and expected results and test reports to document the results obtained) that meets the fullest range of international standards.
